Buzzy Salsa Garden, 071711

I bought this Buzzy Salsa Garden Grow Kit from Big Lots the same day I bought the bell pepper kit. Saturday, July 17th, after putting the pepper kit together I went ahead and worked on putting together the salsa garden.

The $5 kit came with a galvanized trough, a bag of soil and three packets of seeds.

All but 1/2 cup of the soil was transferred to the container. About 1.5 cups of tap water was stirred into the soil with a fork until evenly moistened.

I checked out the cayenne pepper, cilantro and beefsteak tomato seeds.

The pepper seeds looked like what I'd expected; the cilantro seeds being little balls and the tomato seeds being furry were not what I had anticipated.

The seeds were dispersed over the soil in thirds: peppers on the left, cilantro in the middle, tomatoes on the right.

The reserved 1/2 cup of soil was spread over the seeds and misted well with water to moisten.

The sweet peppers and this trough were left on the table in front of the slider for maximum sun.

Thanks for sharing your blog. I bought the kit and the seedlings are doing well. How did the beefsteak tomatoes work out for you?

Hi Mojopo,
Great to hear that your seedlings are doing well. Unfortunately, I didn't follow the directions closely enough and wound up stifling growth preventing any fruit. I'll post about it soon, thanks for the reminder!
